Baalyam is a sensory-motor enrichment program for children aged 3 to 6 years, rooted in the powerful triad of child-led play, purposeful tasks, and peaceful care-giving. It creates a dynamic space where children and their caregivers come together to explore, connect, and engage—both with the world around them and with one another.
What will children do in the program?
Move
Children will have the freedom and opportunity to move in a variety of ways, naturally strengthening their gross motor skills and promoting physical development.
Play
Children will engage in both self-directed play and group games, fostering individual focus, joint attention, and socialization skills as they interact with their peers.
Thrive
Children will also take part in purposeful tasks such as arts and crafts, and using simple tools to create toys, encouraging creativity, fine motor skills, and a sense of accomplishment.
Why do we advocate for caregivers accompanying children?
Because play is much more than a physical activity. While children begin to develop self-regulation around the age of 3, it is around age 5 that we see more significant growth in their ability to understand and manage their own emotions, recognize others’ feelings, and respond in socially appropriate ways. During this critical stage of development, the presence of trusted caregivers provides a vital sense of emotional security. When children feel safe and supported, they are more confident to engage with their environment, take risks, and explore.
